How Schneider Electric Extended The NEST into an Immersive Operational Twin
The NEST is part of Schneider Electric’s Impact Buildings Program, a global initiative that uses its own commercial real estate as live test environments to validate and showcase how digital solutions, sustainability strategies, and occupant focused design can be applied together in real operations.
Schneider Electric’s new Dubai office ‘The NEST’ created an opportunity to demonstrate how a smart building can move beyond connected systems into more intuitive, data driven operations.
The building already had a mature digital foundation through Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Building Data Platform. The challenge was operational usability: facilities teams needed a clearer way to connect live building data to the spaces, assets, and systems affected.
To address this, PARA OS was deployed as the backend operational intelligence layer, structuring more than 10,000 live data points into a semantic model refreshed every 10 minutes. A custom Unreal Engine overlay used the building’s BIM data to create an interactive 3D operating environment where users can navigate The NEST by floor, zone, room, and asset.
This combination made the deployment distinctive. PARA OS provided data structuring, analytics, and live performance logic. The interactive interface translated that intelligence into a spatial experience for investigating building performance, locating issues, and understanding the systems involved.
The deployment covered energy intelligence, fault detection and diagnostics, occupant wellbeing, and space utilization. Today, the immersive operational twin processes more than 1,000,000 data values per day and provides full headquarters spatial coverage through a custom 3D interface.
